China’s
coal
mining and washing industry witnessed its profits slump 64.4% on year to 28.72 billion yuan ($4.49 billion) over January-September, showed data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on October 27.During the same period, the coal mining and washing industry realized
revenue
of 1.85 trillion yuan, dropping 14.4% year on year.Total profit of the country’s entire mining industry declined of 55.5% on year to 208.23 billion yuan over January-September, data showed.Meanwhile, profit in ferrous and non-ferrous metal mining industry fell 42.3% and 20.3% on year to 31.68 billion and 31.53 billion yuan, respectively.However, the power and heat generation industry saw its profit climb 12.3% from the year prior to 361.66 billion yuan, mainly due to the slump in coal prices.
