TKI Novasource has obtained a Section 3 Supplemental Label for Lorox 50 DF herbicide, effective Jan. 20, 2014. Lorox is a photosystem (PS) II inhibitor currently labeled on several vegetable crops, including asparagus, carrot, celery, edamame, parsnip and potato. Lorox is effective preemergence and post-emergence for control of many broadleaves and some annual grasses. It is weak on some composites such as common ragweed and pineappleweed, and some pigweeds are resistant to PS II inhibitors. Growers must have a copy of the Lorox supplemental label in their possession before use. The label is available from dealers or from the Internet at www.cnchemicals.com/. The following is a summary of the new uses.
Celeriac. Apply 3 pounds Lorox 50DF (1.5 pounds active ingredient) per acre after transplanting celeriac, and before it is 8 inches tall. There is a 60-day preharvest interval (PHI).
Coriander or cilantro. Coriander is the seed of cilantro, so these are the same crop. Make a single preemergence application of 1-2 pounds Lorox 50DF (0.5-1 pound active ingredient) after seeding, but before crop emergence. Post-emergence: Make up to two post-emergence applications of 1-2 pounds product to cilantro with at least three true leaves to control emerged broadleaves. Do not exceed 4 pounds product per year in all applications. There is a 60-day PHI.
Dill. Make a single application of up to 2 pounds Lorox DF after seeding, but before crop emergence. Post-emergence: Apply 1-2 pounds Lorox after dill has three true leaves. A second post-emergence application may be made 14 days after the first. Do not exceed 4 pounds Lorox DF per acre per year. There is a 21-day PHI.
Horseradish. Make a single broadcast application of 3 pounds of Lorox 50 DF per acre after planting or during dormancy.
Parsley. Make a single broadcast application of 1-3 pounds Lorox 50 DF after planting. Post-emergence (muck soils only): Make a single application of 1 pound of Lorox after parsley has three true leaves. Do not tank-mix with other pesticides or adjuvants. There is a 30-day PHI.
Peas (dry), including pigeon peas, chickpeas, garbanzo beans, lentils, dwarf peas, garden peas, green peas, English peas and edible pod peas. Make a single preemergence application at up to 2 pounds Lorox after planting, but before crop emergence. Do not use on sandy soils or soils with less than 1 percent organic matter.
Rhubarb. Make a single preemergence application of up to 3 pounds Lorox 50DF to dormant rhubarb in the spring.
