Sino-German Agricultural Science and Technology Cooperation Platform inaugurated

Vice Minister Zhang Taolin and German Parliamentary State Secretary Peter Bleser for Food and Agriculture jointly unveiled the Sino-German Agricultural Science and Technology Cooperation Platform after attending the China-Germany workshop on soil science and conservation in China on Nov. 18, 2015.
Vice Minister Zhang pointed out that in recent years, despite of the continuous growth of comprehensive agricultural productivity, the bottleneck of insufficient agricultural S&T innovation capacity and deteriorating environment is increasingly constraining the modernization and sustainable development of agriculture in China. He hopes that the scientists from both countries will make good use of this platform, leverage each other''s strengths in agricultural S&T resources, enhance S&T exchanges and tackle soil science-related problems, including the control of soil erosion, and the control and remediation of soil contamination, to boost soil science research, soil conservation and sustainable agricultural development in China.
Mr. Peter Bleser agreed with Vice Minister Zhang on his comments and expressed his willingness to advance the bilateral agricultural S&T cooperation with China.
