Vice Minister Li Jiayang meets French delegation

Vice Minister and President of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) Li Jiayang met with Marc Mortureux, head of French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety ANSESand his delegation in Beijing on November 4, 2015. The two sides held in-depth discussion on further enhancing agricultural S&T cooperation and renewed the MOU on cooperation.

 

Vice Minister Li noted that friendly exchanges between China and France in economics and culture have promoted bilateral agricultural S&T cooperation. Since the signing of S&T MOU in 2010, the two sides have conducted fruitful collaboration in plant protection, biomaterial exchange, and animal virus and zoonosis studies, among others. He hoped that the two sides will deepen S&T exchanges and cooperation in animal and plant diseases prevention and control, plant protection and alien invasive species, by various means including establishing joint labs and applying for EU project Horizon 2010.

 

Marc Mortureux agreed withVice Minister Li and noted that ANSES pays close attention to the health of human-beings, animals and plants and is committed to reducing the use of pesticides and antibiotics. ANSES has witnessed fruitful cooperation with CAAS and is ready to promote cooperation in the fields of common interest. He suggested that the two sides should enhance biomaterial exchange and deal with new challenges in agricultural development of the two countries. 

 

Deputy Director General Zhang Huijie of Department of International Cooperation of CAAS and experts from the Institute of Plant Protection, Harbin Institute of Veterinary Research and Lanzhou Institute of Veterinary Research attended the meeting.
