CAB Cakaran targets US$250 million revenue from Jakarta poultry biz by 2019

Malaysia-based CAB Cakaran Corp Bhd plans to generate RM1 billion (US$250 million) in revenue by 2019 from its poultry business in Jakarta, the Star Online reported.

Group managing director Chris Chuah revealed that a joint-venture company was being formed in Jakarta to operate an integrated farm that produced halal poultry in Java.

"When all the facilities of the farm are fully operational, the Jakarta operations will generate RM1 billion per annum from 2019 onwards. The overseas business segment will constitute 50% of the group's revenue by then, compared to about 20% projected for this year," Chuah said.

CAB will hold a 30% stake in the joint-venture company, while its partner, the Indonesia-based Salim Group, the remainder.

Added Chuah: "The joint-venture business will also benefit from the steady demand from Salim Group's convenient stores.

Once the integrated poultry farm the production is fully operational, it should have a production capacity of four million to five million birds per month in three years."
