DDGS imports from US under investigation by Chinese authority

Distiller's dried grains (DDGS) imports from the US are now under anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations by China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC).

The action came after DDGS were allegedly sold at "below normal value" in China, according to the MOC. Investigations in to DDGS, with or without solubles, are expected to conclude within a year under normal circumstances. However, if warranted for, it may extend to about 18 months, said the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

In addition, Chinese producers are also requesting for countervailing duties, The BRICS Post reported. US DDGS, they claimed, were supported by about 42 subsidy programmes.

The country is amongst the biggest buyers of DDGS - which are used for animal feed ingredients - in the world.

During January- October 2015, DDGS imports entering China amounted to 5.9 million tonnes, an increase of 14.3% from the same period in 2014.
