USPOULTRY completes video series for environmental risk management

US Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY) recently completed the development of Module 2 of the Poultry and Egg Producers Environmental Enhancement and Protection Program (E2P2).

E2P2 is an informational video series designed to assist poultry and egg producers with reducing environmental risk associated with the management of poultry litter and other byproducts generated on the farm.

"Module 2- Nutrient Management Planning" is a series of four videos that discuss the need, requirement and environmental benefit of actively implementing a nutrient management plan developed specifically for an individual poultry and egg farm.

Module 2 of the Egg Producers Environmental Enhancement and Protection Program was a collaborative effort between USPOULTRY, The Livestock and Poultry Environmental Learning Center and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Funded in part through a grant provided by the Environmental Protection Agency, program contents and videos were developed by subject matter experts from the Livestock and Poultry Environmental Learning Center and USPOULTRY.

"The nutrient management plan videos highlight an area of critical importance for both EPA and agriculture," said Andrew Sawyers, director of EPA''s Wastewater Office. "Properly implemented nutrient management plans protect water resources. They also allow farmers to balance the amount of nutrients they apply with the needs of their crops. We look forward to continuing our work with farmers to find additional areas of mutual benefit."

The programme is available to USPOULTRY members, free of charge.
