The planting area of cucumber is
annually decreasing in Shanghai. In 2014, there was an area around 2,364.5 ha
(35,468 mu) used to plant cucumbers with multiple varieties (about 50 cultivars
annually), but the main cultivars was very limited. Shenqing1 had the biggest
planting area, followed by Biyu2, and another 3 cultivars (Jinyan4, Nanza2 and
Ruiqing) respectively.
