CVO Zhang Zhongqiu meets his French counterpart

MOA Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) Zhang Zhongqiu met Dr. Loic Evain, CVO of the Ministry of Agriculture, Agri-food and Forestry of France, in Beijing on April 20, 2016. The two sides exchanged views on bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), Schmallenberg disease and avian influenza (AI) in France.

 

Zhang Zhongqiu noted that China and France have maintained good cooperation in agricultural S&T, personnel exchanges, and agricultural trade, among others. It is in the interests of both sides to intensify the bilateral cooperation in animal health.

 

China''s CVO also recognized the animal diseases control systems in France and the EU. He hoped to further enhance the dialogue between the competent veterinary authorities, and deepen the cooperation between research and education institutions, enterprises and technical personnel from the two sides in veterinary services. Zhang Zhongqiu also expressed his hope that China and France jointly promote the mutually-beneficial two-way trade in animal products.

 

For his part, Dr. Loic Evain briefed the Chinese side on the status quo of BSE, Schmallenberg disease and AI, and relevant control measures and achievementsin France. He fully agreed with CVO Zhang Zhongqiu on his suggestions and expressed the willingness of the French side to jointly promote the animal health cooperation with China to a new level.
