Vice Minister Niu Dun meets Ethiopian State Minister of Agriculture

Vice Minister Niu Dun met with Dr. Gebreegziabhier, the State Minister of Ministry of Agriculture of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and his delegation in Beijing on May 23, 2014. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening China-Ethiopia agricultural cooperation.

 

At the meeting, Vice Minister Niu spoke highly of the cooperation and communication in the field of agriculture between China and Ethiopia since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1970.

 

Niu put forward a five-point proposal for future cooperation: First, the two sides will increase high-level visits and improve cooperation mechanisms in agriculture; Second, the two sides will continue cooperation in human resource development and China will provide Ethiopians with opportunities of receiving training in China; Third, the two sides will intensify exchange and cooperation in livestock sector and veterinary service; Fourth, the two sides will join hands to promote and expand agricultural trade; Fifth, the Chinese side will encourage agri-businesses to invest in Ethiopia while the Ethiopian side will create a favorable environment for Chinese enterprises.

Dr. Gebreegziabhier expressed thanks to China for assistance and support in agriculture. He also fully agreed with Niu's remarks on bilateral agricultural cooperation and proposal for future work, saying that Ethiopia stands ready to work with China to upgrade agricultural cooperation in an all-round manner.
