Vice Minister Yu Xinrong and his delegation visited Thailand from June 21 to 24, 2016. The mission of the delegation was to implement the agricultural cooperation initiative reached at the first Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Leaders' Meeting, and facilitate the early harvest program to start running as soon as possible.
During his visit Vice Minister Yu Xinrong and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand Chatchai Sarikulya held a meeting, and the Thai side expressed appreciation for China's prompt response and practical advice. Mr. Chatchai Sarikulya hoped to develop an all-round agricultural cooperation with China, particularly in agricultural investment, technology and trade. The two sides agreed to carry out agricultural cooperation measures specified at the first Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Leaders' Meeting and establish a Lancang-Mekong agricultural cooperation working group as the cooperation mechanism at an early date.
The Chinese delegation also paid a field trip on rice farming, processing, logistics, storage and trade in Thailand.
