First G20 Agricultural Entrepreneurs Forum held in Xi'an

The First G20 Agricultural Entrepreneurs Forum was held in Xi'an, Shaanxi on June 2, 2016. 

 

Minister Han Changfu attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech. The Governor of Shaanxi Province Hu Heping also addressed the Forum.



Nearly 300 delegates attended the Forumm, including Mr. Phil Hogan, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development of European Commission, Mr. Jose Graziano da Silva, Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Mr. Kanayo Felix Nwanze, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Mr. Yu Xubo, President of China Oil & Foodstuffs Corporation (COFCO), Mr. Tim Glenn, President of DuPont Crop Protection and other representatives of G20 members and multinational agriculture corporations.

 

The Forum is the first of its kind under the G20 framework. It was initiated by China as a side event of the 2016 G20 Agriculture Ministers Meeting and received positive responses of G20 reputable corporations and international organizations including the FAO. It also attracted the participation of international financial, investment and consultancy agencies. 

  
With the theme of "Innovation, Cooperation & Sustainable Investment ", the Forum focused on the following agenda items: Common Agricultural Investment and Cooperation with Third-Party Market, Food Security, Nutrition and Global Agricultural Development and Cross-border Business Operation and Sustainable Agricultural Investment. The Forum aimed at fostering sound government-business communication for investment into agriculture, creating a platform for business-business dialogue and unleashing the potential of agribusinesses in promoting economic and trade growth and common prosperity in agricultural development among or in G20 members.



 

The Forum unanimously adopted the Initiative of G20 Agricultural Entrepreneurs Forum and the Action Plan of G20 Agricultural Entrepreneurs on Promoting Agricultural Development and Eliminating Hunger and Poverty.
