Vice Minister Yu Kangzhen met Mr. Patrick Dehaumont, Director of Directorate General for Food (DGAL) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Agri-food and Forestry of France, in Paris on May 22, 2016. The two sides exchanged views on BSE control, export of French beef to China, effectiveness evaluation on the control of Schmallenberg disease and avian influenza and bilateral veterinary cooperation.

Vice Minister Yu spoke highly of the veterinary cooperation between China and France. He proposed that the two sides, based on the existing cooperation, further strengthen the dialogue between the competent veterinary authorities and the communication on veterinary affairs under the framework of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and other international organizations, and increase exchanges between veterinary research institutions and personnel exchanges from the two countries. He also hoped that the two sides intensify cooperation and exchanges at technical level in various areas covering risk analysis in animal health, animal disease control, veterinary drug residues, animal-origin food safety and safe disposal of dead animals by trainings, exchange visits, symposiums and other activities, to promote the bilateral animal health cooperation to a new height.

Patrick Dehaumont agreed with Vice Minister Yu on his comments.
