Minister Han Changfu and his Sudanese counterpart Mr. Ibrahim Al-Dekheiri jointly inaugurated the China-Sudan Agricultural Cooperation Development Park in Sudan on Sept. 23, 2016.
At the inauguration ceremony, Minister Han stated that China-Sudan Agricultural Cooperation Development Park is a key project between the two countries confirmed at the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) as a priority project promoted by the agricultural ministries of the two countries. The inauguration marks a significant progress in implementing the follow-up actions of the FOCAC Johannesburg Summit. MOA will continue supporting the development of the Park to promote production, extend vale chain and increase market opportunities for the enterprises based in the Park and their products for the benefits of local residents. Minister Han is glad to see the progress of the project and improvement in production and living standard of local residents.
Mr. Ibrahim Al-Dekheiri stated that the Sudanese Government will offer full support to the development of the Park, and intensify efforts in providing preferential policies, market access and tariff reduction and exemption, and promote the successful cooperation modes from the Park to other regions. Prior to the ceremony, Minister Han inspected the Park.
On the previous day, Minister Han attended the opening ceremony of a China-Sudan forum on agricultural cooperation and investment promotion along with Mr. Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid, Assistant to Sudanese President, and Mr. Ibrahim Al-Dekheiri, Sudanese agricultural minister. Minister Han delivered a keynote speech at the forum, which was attended by over 200 participants, representing enterprises and research institutes.
After the opening ceremony of the Forum, Minister Han and the Sudanese President's Assistant had a closed-door meeting.
During his stay in Sudan, Minister Han visited the Agricultural Research Center of Sudan, livestock health research center and some farms. He alsoinspected the China-sponsored Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center in Sudan and a China-funded textile enterprise, among others.
