The 6th China-Mongolia-Russia Seminar on Transboundary Animal Disease (TAD) Prevention and Control was held in Vladimir, Russia from Oct.12 to 13, 2016. Veterinary authorities and experts from the three countries exchanged views on the developments of TADs control and research including avian influenza (AI) and foot-and-mouth disease (FMD), and reached broad consensus on strengthening tripartite communication and cooperation in veterinary fields.
The seminar agreed that the joint efforts of all parties have yielded positive results in promoting bilateral and tripartite partnership, and bolstered communication and cooperation with relevant international organizations. The TAD control has maintained a good momentum of steady development, contributing a lot to safeguarding animal health security in the region and the world at large. Delegates from Mongolia and Russia noted that over the past few years, China has shared its valuable experience in TAD control, vaccine R&D and vaccination policy implementation with neighboring countries, and provided technical support of FMD and PPR (peste des petis ruminants) control to Mongolia. China has played a significant role in advancing TAD control, enhancing mutual trust and promoting animal and animal product trade among the three countries.
In order to intensify TAD control, the three parties agreed, firstly, to forge closer ties with FAO and other competent international organizations, and capitalize on the platform of cooperation both at global and regional levels; secondly, to establish a border-area animal-disease-control communication mechanism and set up a tripartite veterinary workgroup with identified focal points, to further facilitate the communication of TAD control and research.
