Minister Han Changfu met with Mr. Max Sieben Baucus, the US Ambassador to China, in Beijing on Dec. 16, 2016. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening the bilateral agricultural cooperation.
Minister Han stated that, over recent years, the China-US agricultural cooperation has enjoyed steady development, including improvement in cooperation mechanisms and fruitful results in S&T cooperation. The agro-trade & economic cooperation has delivered benefits to both the public and the agribusiness community. The interests of the two countries have become increasingly inter-connected. China and the US are two responsible major countries, and cooperation is the only correct choice for both.
Minister Han noted that the two countries should observe the principle of "securing mutual benefits and win-win outcomes and accommodating each other's concerns', and always do what is good for both sides.
Minister Han also expressed his hope that Ambassador Baucus will continue his close attention and support to the bilateral agricultural cooperation, and contribute to building a new type of major country relations, to benefit the two peoples as well as the agricultural community.
Ambassador Baucus agreed with Minister Han, expressing that the US side attaches great importance to agricultural cooperation with China and is willing to deepen the cooperation with patience, active attitude and unremitting efforts.
