Vice Minister Qu Dongyu met with Mr. Grigor Porozhanov,Bulgarian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, in Beijing on Feb. 16, 2017. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening agricultural cooperation between China and Bulgaria.
Vice Minister Qu noted that, thanks to the traditional friendship between the two countries, the bilateral agricultural cooperation has made good use of the bilateral and multilateral platforms and yielded fruitful results.
To further the bilateral agricultural cooperation, Vice Minister Qu suggested:
(1) Capitalizing on multilateral cooperation mechanisms including the Meeting of China-Central-Eastern European Countries (CEEC) Ministers of Agriculture and the Agro-trade & Economic Cooperation Forum and the Association for the Promotion of Agricultural Cooperation between China and CEEC, to boost the bilateral and multilateral agricultural cooperation;
(2) Continuing providing a favorable investment environment for enterprises from the two countries to facilitate the bilateral agricultural trade, and promoting all-round agricultural investment and trade under the framework of the "Belt and Road Initiative";
(3) Promoting the pragmatic cooperation in viticulture and grape processing, dairy processing, fruit and vegetable cultivation, agricultural products processing and agricultural mechanization.
Ambassador Grigor Porozhanov agreed with Vice Minister Qu on his comments and suggestions for the bilateral agricultural cooperation. He also expressed the readiness of the Bulgarian side to work with China to promote the implementation of the Kunming Declaration at the Meeting of China-CEEC Ministers of Agriculture, and upgrade the bilateral agricultural cooperation to a new high.
