The 2019 SCO Modern Agriculture Development Roundtable was held in Yangling Demonstration Zone in Shaanxi province recently. Vladimir Norov, Secretary-General of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and representatives from Russia, Uzbekistan and other 10 countries were present at the meeting. Ma Youxiang, Chief Livestock Officer of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) attended the roundtable at invitation.
This year's roundtable, with the theme "Carry forward the Shanghai Spirit, Strengthen Cooperation on Modern Agriculture', discussed new models and ways for deepening cooperation in modern agriculture with the aim to strengthen agricultural cooperation among SCO member states.
Ma pointed out in his remarks that China was willing to work with all member states in order to fully implement the consensus of the 19th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO Member States, strengthen the SCO cooperation mechanism on agriculture, encourage agricultural information sharing, carry out exchanges and cooperation in agricultural science and technology, advance investment and trade cooperation, promote the establishment of a demonstration center for agricultural technology exchanges and training in Yangling, and earnestly boost in-depth agricultural cooperation among SCO member states.
