Han Changfu, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, and Didier Guillaume, French Minister of Agriculture and Food, co-chaired the 6th meeting of the China-France Mixed Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food in Nanchang on Nov. 15, during the 17th China International Agricultural Trade Fair (CATF).
Han welcomed France as CATF's guest of honor and invited the country to display the unique charm of French agriculture and agricultural products to Chinese consumers. Han and Guillaume exchanged in-depth views on issues of mutual concern such as animal health, cooperation on innovation in agricultural science and technology, vocational education and training for farmers, and professional cooperatives for farmers, among other things. Han emphasized that the two sides should earnestly implement the consensus reached by the heads of both countries, deepen existing cooperation, continuously expand areas of cooperation, and jointly propel cooperation in various fields related to agriculture and rural areas to a new height in order to meet the requirements for strengthening comprehensive cooperation in agriculture as set forth in the Action Plan for Sino-France Relations.
Guillaume congratulated China on the opening of CATF and expressed his appreciation for China's efforts to continuously promote the opening up of agriculture. He agreed with Han's comments and suggestions on agricultural cooperation between China and France. He said the two countries would push forward bilateral agricultural cooperation to achieve new progress based on the cooperation priorities set by both sides at the meeting.
During the trade fair, Han also attended France Day events with Guillaume and exchanged ideas with French exhibitors and buyers.
