Han Changfu Meets South African and Ugandan Agriculture Ministers

Han Changfu, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, met with Thoko Didiza, South Africa's Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, and Vincent Ssempijja, Uganda's Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, while attending the 1st Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Agriculture in Sanya, Hainan on Dec. 9. Minister Han exchanged his views with them regarding the implementation of agricultural achievements developed at the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and deepening Sino-African cooperation in agriculture.  

  

When meeting with Minister Didiza, Minister Han said that China and South Africa belong to the two important emerging economies and their cooperation in agriculture possesses an exemplary role.  China is willing to deepen agricultural cooperation with South Africa on the basis of equality and mutual benefit. China wants to contribute positively to the development of African agriculture as a whole while promoting the agricultural development of both China and South Africa. Minister Didiza congratulated Minister Han on the success of holding the 1st Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Agriculture. He also expressed South Africa's willingness to deepen cooperation with China in areas such as animal and plant quarantine in order to push agricultural cooperation between the two countries to a higher level. 

  

In meeting with Minister Ssempijja, Minister Han congratulated him on the success of holding High-level Meeting on the 10th Anniversary of the FAO-China South-South Cooperation Program in Uganda not long ago. He expressed his appreciation that Uganda has attached great importance to Sino-Ugandan cooperation in agriculture. He said China is willing to break new ground in bilateral agricultural cooperation on the basis of existing good record of cooperation. Minister Ssempijja expressed his gratitude for the contribution by the China-FAO South-South Cooperation Program to agricultural development in Uganda. He said Uganda looks forward to actively expanding cooperation in new areas such as animal and plant disease control and aquaculture while implementing the South-South Cooperation Program.
