Glyphosate, or Roundup, Spark in commercial name, is a broad-spectrum herbicide which takes action toward over 76 kinds of herbs/weed, by inhibiting the protein synthesis.



Unlike some herbicides which impair the seed and soil, glyphosate can combine with ferrous and aluminum and lose activity rapidly after it merge into the earth by decomposing into inorganic phosphate, ammonia and carbon dioxide. Thus it does not impair the seed and microorganism in the soil. What is more glyphosate shows excellent compatibility to ecology and environment, and much lower toxicity to mammal, bird, fish, bee, etc. It does not deposit also. So it has been proved to be the safest herbicide nowadays.



After its first registration in 1974, glyphosate has brought a revolution to the global herbicide industry and it has been widely used in both the agricultural area and non-agricultural area. It becomes was the fast growth agrochemicals in the world and it is still the fast growing item nowadays. Glyphosate accounts for 30% of the total world herbicide and it grows at the speed of 25% per year.



The glyphosate industry in China started from 1970s. It is only in the end 1980s that China began to produce glyphosate in mass volume, especially the technical grade material. However today China becomes one of the largest glyphosate suppliers in the world. The Chinese material, especially the glyphosate technical, has entered the international market with competitive quality, attractive price and huge quantity.
