Among which, Eka Chemicals is the top producer, attributing to its annual output of around 800,000 tonnes. As to the supply situation of sodium chlorate in China in 2013, the total output was about 430,000 tonnes. China exported 77,989 tonnes sodium chlorate in Jan.-Nov. 2013, accounting for less than 3% of total demand beyond China.



Sodium chlorate has a wide range of end use segments. It is primarily used to produce potassium perchlorate, which accounts for over 80% of output share of perchlorate’s total output. The sodium chlorate is also used to produce chlorine dioxide and sodium chlorite. The former is a strong oxidizing agent in paper making, sewage treatment, disinfection of drinking water, treatment of water cycle), and the latter is mainly consumed in such industries as fireworks and crackers, pulp & paper, water treatment and metal smelting, etc.



Mainly applied in the production of fireworks and crackers, potassium perchlorate ranks top among sodium chlorate consumption segments in China. Pulp & paper is the second largest end use segment of sodium chlorate. Water treatment industry is also a promising market for sodium chlorate.
